Privacy
How HostMeals handles personal information. · Effective 7 October 2026 · Version hostmeals-2026-10-07
HostMeals is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nink Inc. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use personal information on the HostMeals platform (www.hostmeals.com).
What we collect
- Account details: name, email, password (hashed), optional phone.
- Host listing details: bio, cuisine, photos, neighbourhood/city, private street address and unit/postal when provided, meal allergen notes hosts choose to publish.
- Booking details: meal, time, party size, notes (including allergy notes), and payment status.
- Messages between guests and hosts on the platform.
- Payment processing data handled by Stripe (we do not store full card numbers).
- Technical logs needed to run and secure the site (for example IP-related abuse controls).
Identity documents
HostMeals does not currently collect government identity documents (passport, driver’s licence, national ID) in the product. Email verification is the check we perform today. If we later require ID for host payouts or safety:
- Purpose: confirm the host is who they claim to be for payouts/fraud prevention only.
- Access: restricted to HostMeals operators and the payment provider (Stripe) as needed for Connect.
- Retention: delete or irreversibly anonymize within 90 days after the review decision, or sooner if the application is withdrawn — unless a longer period is required for fraud, legal hold, or Stripe’s own retention.
- Deletion: email support@hostmeals.com from your account address to request deletion; we confirm when complete.
We will update this section before turning on any ID upload feature.
How we use it
To operate accounts, listings, seat requests, messaging, email verification, password reset, payments/payouts, customer support, safety/fraud prevention, and product improvement. We do not sell personal data.
What is public vs private
Public listings show a first name, approximate neighbourhood/city, photos, meal details, and approximate map area — never a surname, phone number, or street address.
After a seat is confirmed (host approval and payment when required), the host’s venue street address (and typically a contact phone for arrival) is shared with the confirmed guests for that meal so they can arrive. We do not share a guest’s home street address with other diners. Guest contact details are shared with the host as needed to manage the booking.
Who we share with
- Hosts and guests on a booking, as described above.
- Service providers: database/hosting, email delivery, and Stripe for payments.
- Authorities when required by law.
Retention and security
We keep account and booking records while your account is active and as needed for legal, dispute, and accounting purposes. We use industry-standard safeguards with our providers. No method of transmission is perfectly secure.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, or deletion of your signup and account data by emailing support@hostmeals.com from the address on your account. We aim to respond within 2 business days. Some records (for example completed bookings or payment records) may need to be retained for legal or accounting reasons.
Cookies and analytics
We use essential storage (for example local session tokens) to keep you signed in. We do not currently run a third-party advertising pixel on HostMeals. If that changes, we will update this policy.
International processing
Our providers may process data in Canada, the United States, or other countries where they operate. If you use HostMeals from another country, your information may be transferred accordingly.
